          I have to assume it’s in an automod filter, but I can’t imagine why. Is it a joke like how people say “Fr*nch”?

            There’s a pair of asterisk symbols around the word “removed” in the address, and Lemmy or the readers are automatically italicizing what’s between them and then dropping the symbols, which breaks the link.

            Using “%2A” gets around that. There might be other ways too.

              No, there are no asterisks in the actual URL.

              *removed* appears where a word has been removed.
