Look she’s a horrible person and I hate her as much as the next trans, but none of the news coverage on it I’ve seen so far actually has any evidence she was involved in the invitation. This kind of enthusiastic perpetuation of misinformation isn’t ok just because it aligns with our views.

JK Rowling has an extremely murky supply chain. By choice.

A good example I heard a while back: Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh was one of the worst industrial accidents ever. Death toll in the thousands. One of the companies involved was Primark, which makes the official Harry Potter apparel. Was HP apparel actually made in this particular death trap? We don’t know. JK won’t discuss it. But you know what she says, she just takes one look at her bank statement and all of the worries go away. We know that much.

Epstein invitation thing was just more of the same. Was JK personally involved? We don’t know. Did JK care? Evidently not.

That was actually the whole joke here. She spent all this time spreading unfounded rumors about trans people and now there will be unfounded rumors about her because Epstein mentioned her in an email.

The joke in the meme is John Cena laughing at JKR being in the Epstein files, though. That’s not a joke, it’s disinformation.

If the text said something about it being rumored, that would feel more like a joke. That would be sweet karma. But it’s not cool when they post disinformation, and it’s not cool when we do it either.

While it’s non-defensible; a lot of people just believe what they see in memes. A family member of mine is like that.
