There needs to be more FOSS that isn’t geared towards nerds. I want to be able to recommend apps to people and it JustWorks™ without having them even know.

This is why I love the Signal Foundation

I’ve been saying that for years. So many fantastic FOSS applications are obviously made by engineers for engineers.

IANADeveloper…but now I gotta wonder what the OS of choice for UX/frontend devs is. I want to guess macOS.

I literally just use Claude for UX. It makes my apps so pretty and intuitive and I don’t have to worry about boring UX design.

I tried it and YouTube videos didn’t work for some reason. Said I needed to sign in. Never had that issue with NewPipe.

I love FUTO’s products like their keyboard (what I’m typing this reponse on lol) and Immich, but slightly dislike their license for discrimination against commercial use and not copylefting.

You need to enable the setting in sources for the bypass. Youtube started putting in soft bans for VPN IPs and age restricted videos by forcing users to sign in (even in a web browser). Grayjay does have a bypass, which sometimes can counter the issue (you also can disable the login fallback so you don’t get asked to sign in anymore).

This is largely something that’s happened recently - probably wasn’t in effect when you were using Newpipe.
