I admire her skills, no doubt about that. But some papers exaggerate a teenyweeny bit to sell copies, I’m sure the pilot was cool about the landing- the trauma of somebody committing suicide like that in front of you is terrible.

The world is never the same once you learn, with your whole soul, that genuinely anyone at any time might just look at you, give a forced smile, and fucking jump into the blender. The world is both much louder and much more quiet now.

A student pilots license can be acquired by going to the local airport and asking for one. There is no testing or requirements to get one, just an application. Once your instructor is confident you can fly they can endorse you to fly solo.

In the US you only need 40 hours of flight time to get a Private Pilot license. To fly commercially for a job, you need 190 or 250 depending on if you go to a college flight program.

Apart of those 40 hours of flying, 10 of them must be solo hours. So this pilot has absolutely landed by themselves before.

Its always surprising to learn that a hair stylist in New York state is required to take a 300 hour course, but a commercial pilot needs less flight hours.
