  • Thing is, if you get a hidden camera to protect from predators, the predators get hidden cameras to prey. There’s no way past it, technology can always be used in both ways. I don’t have a solution.

I like to naïvely believe in the good of humanity and than everyone is good at core. Of course, improved social structures, rehabilitation, education, and so on would help.

The other part is that hidden cameras are, of course, a thing already, so why not use them, too? I suppose I would like to see regulations which mandate a blinking red light on all commercially sold cameras and flash sound for pictures. I have been photographed without consent in the past. Still, people would cover those diodes up and find ways to disable sound cues.

Time to design some clothes with extremely bright IR lights that blind all cameras pointed at you?

Eh, one can still hope for some open hardware HUD glasses WITHOUT espionage sensors (cameras, microphones).

Since I recently got into swimming, I found one there are swimming goggles that display stats like your heartrate and lap times as an HUD with a built-in heartrate sensor.

While I’m not serious enough about swimming to invest into that, I still think the technology is really cool when used correctly.
