It’s rare I find a game that I will play straight through and beat, these days. I hope you’ll circle back to it occasionally, the story is really satisfying to finish.
I’m sure i will, i love tactical games and there are very few that really satisfy the feeling I’m looking for. XCOM is pretty much the codifier of the genre but it was brutal for me. I loved and finished Marvel Midnight Suns, and Tactical Breach Wizards was surprisingly good. good gameplay, really good writing. I’d love to go back into it actually.
I haven’t done much with turn based tactical games in recent years, I think my fav aspect of TBW is how the fictional conceits have a fun way of justifying the gameplay, and really taking those ideas as far as possible. Some of the later battles are so elaborately orchestrated that it’s impossible to conceptualise the actual sequence of events, but it all hangs together because it’s a story about an actual wizard with time powers. I also like that the protagonists are generally non lethal, it makes them more genuinely heroic rather than just “the best at killing”.

it’s a crime that there isn’t an Android version actually. I’d definitely be playing it.
