It already was in the several decades where he didn’t age, though, so something REALLY fucking stressful must have happened in the mid to late 90s.

Something much more stressful than everything we know happened to him, including checks notes

      • the Holocaust,
      • several families dying gruesome deaths, and
      • being in solitary (other than his nemesis beating him at chess once in a while) confinement for several years.

Must have stepped on a Lego or something 🤷🏻

These are two different timelines, right? Maybe he was president during that time in the original timeline

Yes but also no. Different timelines. Ian magneto is from the timeline were trask and creed get to build the sentinels to hunt mutants. In the comics this (afaik) was prevented by bishop and forge (iirc) by going back in time.
That wouldnt have sold as well as wolverine being sent back, so ye.
The other magneto never had that stress, but instead has to deal with foh, nimrod, bastion, sentinel, apocalypse and his own asteroid m or genosha.
Stress, but not life threatening stress ( except his childhood during ww2 as a jewish mutant kid )

Edit: also, he would be at least 65 in 2000, he be ooooold. If anything, 1992 looks young af. Maybe he’s asian :p

No, Magneto is still canonically a victim of the Nazi regime. But he’s also canonically perpetually in his middle age/early old age. How? 🤷‍♂️ Don’t worry about it.

In First Class, Sebastian Shaw says that he’s going to start a nuclear WW3 so that mutants can take over the remains of civilization, because mutants aren’t affected by radiation.

I choose to believe that in the Fox X-Men universe, mutants also aren’t affected by solar radiation or cosmic rays that can damage skin or DNA, so their aging isn’t negligible, but it’s markedly slower than baseline humanity.

He got turned into a baby and then shortly after reverted to being back in his prime. More recently he died and was brought back - so pretty much par-for-the-course.

          Ah, comics. Never change.

Or do. Actually please do. Let Peter Parker grow old and have a happy family, damn it!

Mutants are the next stage in human evolution. Canonically they are stronger, faster, tougher, and heal faster than regular humans. It’s not unreasonable to think they age slower and live longer as well.

Old Magneto is definitely the weird elder queen who’s always hanging out in the chill-out room, so I think we can safely lay the blame largely on Acid House.
