Because no one says “cola”. It’s a little awkward.
It depends on the country. We use the term to include both Pepsi and coke.

I like Pepsi. I don’t drink it because I have Coke on hand for rum&coke, and at a restaurant I’m getting Barqs or Dr. Pepper. But I don’t dislike it.
That’s fair. I’m in the mid Atlantic and people generally prefer Coke here. Pepsi has an off flavor that I don’t like. But I’m also not a fan of root beer which I think has something to do with it.
I feel like Pepsi max tastes better than coca cola zero, but regular coke tastes better than regular pepsi. Coke zero and normal Pepsi taste off to me.
Oh I strongly disagree with that one. Coke Zero tastes great to me.
