I saw a floating dick with two penis rings on it. But I guess that depends on what’s on your mind.

The worst part for me is mixing sayings and the construction of sentences. I’ve never been that good at English grammar, but after using English more and more, my grammar in my native language have gotten worse. I’m half way in a sentence, in my native language, before I notice I’ve started on an English saying, but directly translated to my native language and it makes no sense. But, there’s no cow on the ice, as you say, because my wife and I are like pots and pans, as you also say; we are the same way.
And We Found Love.
Also Moves Like Jagger, but that somehow feels like it’s… Decades… Ago… Aww. So old suddenly.

1·4 days agoI’m still quite new to Lemmy. I still don’t quite get how it all works, haha. I’m using the Thunder app (don’t ask me why), and when I go to settings it’s the second option I’m presented with. Then you just add keywords for the things you’d like to filter out.

Also, my dad can beat up your dad, or something like that.

According to the graph I posted, it actually seems like 2005 was the calmest year since 1946.
The year of Call Me Maybe. I get why you would you choose that.

You are not wrong. In this graph it seems like 2002 - 2012 was the calmest period in a very long time.

Edit:
Actually kind of an interesting graph. Seems like there is a pattern of 10 years of conflict and tension and then a either a hold or another 10 years with a calm period.

2·4 days agoOur cat is as dangerous and brave as Toulouse and also never grew bigger than kitten size.

She’s have always been an indoor cat. We don’t believe she would last long outside on her own, with her two functioning brain cells.

5·5 days agoOur cat is not much into catching mice. We once lived in an allotment house, which is mostly a shed. We once had a mouse in our bedroom, and we had to wake up the cat. We placed her near the mouse, so she could see it. She just lied down and continued to sleep.

6·5 days agoThanks! And thank you for a civil discussion. I will at some point look it up. If you have some resources you could recommend, that would be nice. I guess there a lot of good but also bad readings on the subject out there.
I’ve volunteered a lot before I got kids, where I was mentoring children of refugees. But having two kids under the age of 5 is a full time job beside my full time job, so currently there’s not many hours left of the day to do volunteering.
But I do still try to do small things here and there to improve the world around me.

51·5 days agoI believe not reading news is what got us here. Too many have given up and don’t take a stance, which allows the situation to just get worse and worse.
But, I also stopped reading news. I stopped the day Trump won the election. The world is a shit show and I won’t allow my mood to get dragged down every day. I have a family and kids and I want them to have a good life and a fun dad to be around.
If things like what happens with the ICE raids are happening, the Epstein files, dictatorship suddenly threatens everything I’m not burying my head in the sand, but I want to dose the amount of news I consume.

181·5 days agoI definitely get that! And it is definitely an issue. Personally, I feel like the state of the world is constantly knocking on my door. It’s almost claustrophobic. I vote for parties and politicians I believe in, I try to avoid supporting the ones who try to fuck up our world by not using their products or buy them.
But besides that, I not sure what else I can do, and I’m definitely up for suggestions.

493·5 days agoSure, but i’ve just reached a point where I don’t want to get bummed out, everytime I open a social media app.
There must be positive things to talk about, and not just the enshittification of everything and the end of the world.

Yes, you’re right and to my knowledge there isn’t anything similar to the “no cow on the ice” in the English language.
Well, Wiktionary translated it to “the coast is clear”.
Originally it was “No cow on the ice, as long as its butt is on dry land”.
My issue is that I would often start on something like “like peas in a pod” but directly translated Danish, which wouldn’t be something people would say.
